Israel By The Numbers

This was presented by Aish.com.  It is very well done and can open your eyes to this mysterious place called Israel -- different from any other country in the world.

I thought I would include some other interesting facts:
  • The Arab nations surrounding Israel have approximately 650 times the amount of land as Israel.  All the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, by international law and of course scriptures, is Israel.  The only occupied territory is where Arabs are occupying Israeli land and convincing the world it is theirs.
  • Include Islamist nations and it exceeds 1000 times the amount of land.
  • Before 1948 the Palestinians were the Jews.  I still have Jewish neighbors who remember when they were children, their families were Palestinian.  The Arabs called themselves Egyptians, Jordanians, Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc, etc, etc.  In 1964 the newly formed PLO rewrote history and the Jew-hating world loved it, including the Jew-hating media.
  • Palestine was never a sovereign nation and was illegally named by the Romans (it was actually Israel).
  • The Arab terrorist groups in Israel (the Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, etc) have never said they wanted the land (when they talk in Arabic), only that they want all non-muslims dead -- "first the Saturday people, then the Sunday people" is the popular expression.  Of course, that statement pertains to all the people of the world and we can see how the Sunday people are starting to get their treatment.  Yet, the Sunday people still blame the Saturday people for everything that goes wrong in the world (Esav still is trying to kill Yaakov).
  • Jews are approximately 1/4 of 1% of the world population (about 1 Jew out of every 400 people).

  1. If there are 14000000 jews worldwide and the world has over 7000000000 people it comes out about one per 500 . That's known jews of course this calculation doesn't include the ten lost tribes .

    1. You are correct if those are the correct numbers, which are highly variable. The world is about 7.2 billion and my 400 to one comes to 18 million Jews (definitely not including the 10 lost tribes which is probably considerably more).

My calculation is based on something completely nebulous to the modern sensus system. I discovered years ago when I was noticing how many places it is brought down how the Jews are compared to the moon and the non-Jews are the sun. The Jews have always tried to be a reflection of the non-Jews (the moon is a reflection of the sun). We even allude to it in Kiddush Levanah when we talk about how the Jews have grown and diminished, throughout history, like the monthly lunar cycle, but we always returned. In the time of Moshiach we will not diminish any more (there is much more detail that I am going into here).

I once performed calculations and discovered that the size of the sun is 399 times the size of the moon. The distance of the sun is 399 times further than the distance of the moon the the earth. The estimated population at the time of this interesting discovery, in the late 1990's, was 399 non-Jews to 1. I stayed with that proportion since the message, that I felt that I was getting, was so significant. There are more details to this that I won't go into now (hint: the number of Israelites who perished in the plague of darkness to the number that left Mitzrayim with Moshe Rabbenu -- I see many parallels from the first Geula to this final Geula).

Nice to hear from you, Joshua.

  2. There's a secret if you can figure out using the numbers of Zecharia 8:23 and 13:8 to figure how many will be around for mashiach.

  3. Grim numbers

    Pskita Rabbatai, 36

"At that moment, G-d shall intensify the light of the Moshiach and of Israel. All the nations shall remain in darkness and shall walk by the light of the Moshiach and of Israel, as it says, "nations shall walk by your light; kings by the brightness of your rising (yeshayahu 60:3). They shall come and lick the dust under the Moshiach's feet (ibid 49:23). All of them shall come and prostrate themselves before the Moshiach and Israel, saying "Let us be your slaves." Every single Jew shall have 2,800 slaves, as it says "[In those days] ten men out of all the languages of the nations shall take hold, and seize the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, "we will go with you for we have heard that G-d is with you'". (Zechariah 8:23)

Current world population is about 7.2 billion people. If 2/3rds are to be cut off, that leaves about 2.21 billion.

    7,200,000,000
    x 33% survival
    ___________
    2,376,000,000

If there are 2,800 goyim for every Jew, that means..

    2376,000,000
    / 2800
    __________
    848,571 Jews to greet moshiach.

There are about 13,296,000 Jews in the world.

    848,571 out of 13,296,000 = 6.4% Jews make it.

    1. Very interesting theory, but that is just what it is "theory." Interpreting prophecy before the fact is not an exact science.

First of all the negative gezerah, decree, of the end of 2/3 of the world population, could be averted. Only positive gezerot are for sure. The possible interpretation also is that because all evil will be gone, Hashem may be telling us that only 1/3 of the world is deserving of the time of Moshiach (my speculation, not anything that I have proof). The estimate of 7.232 billion today gives you about 2.4 billion remaining. I believe Rav Ben Artzi when he stated that a nuclear war should not be a concern.

I have been much more concerned with the instability of a 2000 miles fault line on the Pacific northern rim or the huge volcano at Yellowstone Park or the tremendous radiation and instability of Fukushima (my biggest nuclear concern), along with all the unstable weather, earthquakes and volcanoes worldwide. That is all Hashem preparing the demise of the wicked and the correction of those who are not following Hashem's ways. What the numbers might be is very speculative, since there is so much confusion in the world as to who is Jewish, who might be a lost tribe member (there are many peoples being tagged as possibilities), etc. The final answer is a wait and see scenario.

All I know is it is good news since Hashem is the One running the world and sorting it all out for our benefit. What we must be concerned with is our own status in the eyes of Hashem. Come judgement day (which is probably much closer than we think), we will all, as individuals, be evaluated and rewarded or, chas v'shalom, punished, measure for measure, according to our own deeds. It is not too late to clean up our act, for ourselves and our loved ones. Do Teshuvah which is not just words but actions. It's your eternal future at stake.

So far as how many Jews will make it, probably 100%. The question is how pleasantly or with how much suffering it will take for each Jew to reach Tikun (probably the same for each righteous non-Jew).

  4. The Gemara in Sanhedrin 111a says it will similar to the ninth plague coming out of Mitzrayim -- how 4/5ths perished. My Rav who is learns with the mekubalim in Mea Shearim said that number is optimistic...there is a midrash only 37,000 or so will make it. So I'd like to think the numbers mentioned above are optimistic. Given that Mashiach is coming "b'itah" and not "acheshenah", I doubt the decrees are off the mark.

The Arizal says that that the erev rav outnumbers jews more than 2:1 and of course they gilgul at the end of days with the dor hamidbar. Of course the autistics like Moishe etc. have said many time only the real jews survive, not the erev rav.
